Mission


Founded in 2004 by local metal artisans, the Southwestern Virginia Metal Arts Guild provides opportunities for education, creativity and an information exchange among its members and to educate the public about the metal arts.

Monthly Meetings
Meetings include demonstrations of studio techniques to photographing work to marketing, and include an annual show & tell of member’s work and discussion sessions for the bi-annual group exhibition. The demonstrations are presented by SVMAG members and/or regional professionals at local studios, and allow our members to be inspired by sharing ideas and techniques.

Lectures & Workshops
SVMAG facilitates the exchange of educational information in the form of periodic workshops and lectures in technical and aesthetic aspects of metalwork and design by outstanding teachers, tradesmen, artists and designers from all over the country. These are also open to the public.

Bi-Annual SVMAG Group Exhibition
We sponsor a Bi-Annual Group Exhibition of our members’ art work. The exhibits feature a broad range of metal arts, from jewelry to sculpture to architectural metals.

Membership is open to anyone interested in the metal arts: Students, professional metalsmiths, crafts persons, artists, gallery owners, retailers, collectors, novices, manufacturers, or any individual who wishes to be a contributing member of the guild.

Annual Rates (starting January 2007).
